Describe the Samba Bounce
- A movement felt through the pelvis and knees in 1/2 beats of the music
- On count 'and', knees begin to straighten and heels lift from the floor as we move toward the apex of the bounce
- On counts 'one' and 'two, the knees begin to compress and heels lower to the floor as we move toward the base of the bounce
- Counted & 1 & 2 & 1 & 2
- Only used, with varying degrees, in figures with a 3/4 & 1/4 split in the following way:
- On count 'and' knees begin to straighten and heels lift
- On count 'one' knees begin to compress as the first step is taken ball flat (this has a 3/4 beat value)
- On count 'and' knees begin to straighten and heels lift
- On count 'a' (3/4 beat after 'one'), second step is taken, having only a 1/4 beat value and taken on the ball of the foot
- On count 'two' knees begin to compress and third step is taken ball flat
- On count 'and' the cycle repeats

Rhythm Bounce
- Useful when constructing routines to match the phrasing of the music
- Also useful to overcome difficulties that sometimes arise when using basic figures to construct amalgamations that require exactly 4 or 8 bars of music
- Can be used to rest (complete a figure then hold position and complete the Rhythmic Bounce) before continuing the routine
- May be dance using normal Samba bounce Action or with the leg of the foot carrying full weight straight; the bounce is then produced using a lateral movement of the hips
