How many Fuel Cells?
8 fuel cells - 4 FWD, 4 AFT
How many fuel tanks?
2, 1 FWD, 1 AFT
Where are the fuel cells vented too?
All cells are vented to both wings.
Where are the fuel vents located?
2 fuel vents, 1 under each wing.
Which tanks go to which engine?
FWD tank - Right engine.
AFT tank - Left engine.
Fuel Quantity
Total - 383
FWD - 183
AFT - 200
Useable - 380
FWD - 182
AFT - 198
When do the caution lights turn on & how much fuel / time remaining?
110 AFT - 17 minutes
75 FWD - 12 minutes
Explain the Oil to Fuel Heater
Purpose: Warms fuel to prevent ice crystals.
Oil passes over heating shroud located next to engine.
Fuel Nozzles
14 fuel nozzles total per engine
10 Primary
4 Seconfary
What PSI is the engine driven fuel pump?
600 PSI
PSI for boost pumps 1 & 2
40 PSI
When does the # 2 boost pump come on?
1. When the # 1 boost pump fails. (pressure drops below 2 PSI.)
2. When crossfeed is selected from that tank to the other tank.
3. When the # 2 pump is selected on.
4. When in test mode.
What is happening when the crossfeed is selected?
The # 2 boost pump comes on in the SELECTED tank.
Both boost pumps in the tank NOT selected turn OFF.
What electrical bus does the boost pumps run off of?
Pump # 1 - Left 28v DC bus
Pump # 2 - Right 28v DC bus
How does the fuel quantity probe work?
Fuel quantity probes are in all cells. The fuel measuring system takes an average of all cells in each seperate tank.
It runs off of AC power - 115 v
Automatic change over system
The # 2 boost pump turns on automatically when the # 1 goes below 2 PSI.
Fuel X-feed receives its power from -
Right DC bus
Filler cells
Cells 1 & 7
Collector Cells
Cells 4 & 5
Collector cells are the last cells to drain in the fuel system. They contain both boost pumps and the circuit for the fuel low level light.
