- EEG increased theta and delta activity and decreased alpha activity
- PET scan: increase in D2 dopamine receptors in caudate nucleus of drug-free schizophrenics
- Eye movement dysfxn: may be a trait
- CT scans: enlarged lateral and third ventricles as well as reductions in cortical volume
- decreased sleep latency
- decreased blood flow to frontal lobe
drugs that can induce psychosis
- amphetamines
- LSD
- PCP
contraindications to ECT
- recent myocardial infarcts
- increased intracranial pressure
- aneurysms
- bleeding disorders
- anything that disrupts blood-brain barrier
