  1. abnormal findings in schizophrenia
    • EEG increased theta and delta activity and decreased alpha activity
    • PET scan: increase in D2 dopamine receptors in caudate nucleus of drug-free schizophrenics
    • Eye movement dysfxn: may be a trait
    • CT scans: enlarged lateral and third ventricles as well as reductions in cortical volume
    • decreased  sleep latency
    • decreased blood flow to frontal lobe
  2. drugs that can induce psychosis
    • amphetamines
    • LSD
    • PCP
  3. contraindications to ECT
    • recent myocardial infarcts
    • increased intracranial pressure
    • aneurysms
    • bleeding disorders
    • anything that disrupts blood-brain barrier
