    System composed of the skin and it's appendages including hair, nails, sweat glands and sebaceous glands (oil).

    a flat, discolored spot on the skin up to 1cm across (eg. a freckle)
  41. patch
    a flat, discolored area on the skin larger than 1cm (eg. vitiligo)
  42. papule
    a solid mass on top of the skin up to 1cm in diameter (eg a nevus/mole)
  43. plaque
    a solid mass greater than 1cm in diameter, limited to the surface of the skin
  44. nodule
    a solid mass greater than 1cm in diameter which extends deeper into the epidermis
  45. tumor
    a solid mass larger than 2cm
  46. wheal
    an area of localized skin edema (eg a hive)
  47. vesicle
    little bladder; an elevated, fluid flled sac (blister) within or under the epidermis up to 0.5cm (eg a fever blister)
  48. bulla
    a blister larger than 0.5cm (eg a second degree burn)
  49. pustule
    a pus-filled sac (eg a pimple)
  50. erosion
    to graw away; loss of superficial epidermis leaving behind moisture but no bleeding
  51. ulcer
    an open sore on the skin or mucous membrane that can bleed and scar and is sometimes accompanied by infection
  52. excoriation
    a scratch (eg from a cat scratch)
  53. fissure
    a linear crack in the skin
  54. scale
    a thin flake of exfoliated epidermis
  55. crust
    dried residue of serum (bodily fluid), pus or blood on the skin
  56. cicatrix of the skin
    a mark left by the healing of a sore or wound showing the replacement of destroyed tissue by fiberous tissue (eg a scar)

    an abnormal overgrowth of scar tissue that is thick and irregular

  59. cherry angioma
    a small, round, bright red blood vessel tumor on the skin, often the trunk of the elderly
  60. telangiectasia
    a tiny red blood vessel lesion formed by the dilation of a group of blood vessels radiating from a central arteriole, most commonly seen on the face, neck or chest.

    purpura; lesions as a result of hemorrhages into the skin
  63. petechia
    spot; a reddish-brown, minute hemorrhagic spot on the skin that indicates a bleeding tendency - small purpura

    bruise; a black or blue mark - a large purpura

    skin tumors arising from the epidermis

    mole; a congenital malformation on the skin that can be epidermal or vascular
