  1. What effect will a Muscarinic agonist have on the pupils?
    Why?
    M agonist will cause miosis and accomodation.

    • M receptors:
    • Sphincter muscle -> miosis
    • Accomodation -> contraction (relax = no M activation)
  2. What causes mydriasis and cycloplegia?
    Muscarinic antagonist.

    Remember that accomodation is dependent only on muscarinic receptors.
  3. A patient presents to the ER because of tachycardia, mydriatic pupils, but cannot sweat. What is going on?
    This patient is on atropine a muscarinic antagonist.

    Sweating although sympathetic is controlled by acetycholine which can be inhibited by muscarinic antagonist leaving the sympathetic system intact.
