  1. A circulatory system consists of:
    • 1.Muscular pump:the heart

  3. Benefits of Closed circulatory
    • transport through vessels
    • 2.Blood can be directed to specific tissues
    • 3.Specialized carriers can travel in the vessels and transport hormones
  4. Pulmonary circuit
    blood is pumped from the heart to the lungs and back again
  5. systemic circuit
    blood travels from the heart to the rest of the body and back to the heart
  6. arteries
    carry blood away from the heart
  7. capillaries
    the site of exchange between blood and tissue fluid
  8. venules
    drain the capillary beds and form veins, which deliver blook back to the heart
  9. Fish hearts have two chambers
    • 1.Atrium:recieves blood from the body
    • 2.Ventricle:recieves pumped blood from the atrium and sends it to the gills
    • 3.Collects in the aorta
    • 4.Distributed throughout the body

    pumps blood through the pulmonary circuit

    pumps blood through the systemic circuit

    recieves deoxygenated blood from the body through large veins

    • 3.Right Ventricle
    • 4.Atrium contracts, then ventricle contracts
    • 5.AV valve closes
    • 6.Blood is pumped through the pulmonary artery to the lungs
    • 7.oxgenated blood returns to the left atrium through the pulmonary veins
    • 8.the ventricle fills as bloods enters throuh an AV valve
    • 9.The left atrium contracts, then the ventricle
    • 10. The aortic valve opens and blood circulates through the aorta
