Echo and PA Pressures

  1. When is the PA pressures and RV pressures not the same?
    Pressence of RV/PVOT obstruction
  2. How can PA pressure be measured?
    Pressure difference across TV and the estimated RA pressure (from IVC size and response to respiration)
  3. How is PA pressure calculated?
    PAP = TR Gradient + RA Gradient

    • Where TR Gradient = V
    • = 4V2
  4. Calculate PAP is the TV velocity = 2.3m/s and the IVC collapses >50% and is 1.9cm:
    • PAP = TR Gradient + RA Pressure
    • RA pressure = 5 - 10mmHg
    • TR Gradient = 4 x 2.32
    • = 21.16
    • PAP = (21.16 + 5) - (21.16 + 10)

    PAP = 26.16mmHg - 31.16mmHg
  5. Which cardiac walls does the LAD descending supply?
    • Anterior - Basal, Mid and Apical
    • Lateral - Basal, Mid and Apical
    • Inferior - Apical and Lateral


  6. What cardiac walls does the LCx supply?
    Mid Posterior
  7. What cardiac walls does the posterior descending RCA and LCx supply?
    Basal Posterior
