    Rapid acting anticoagulant prepared by bovine lung tissue or porcine intestinal mucosa
  3. Mechanism of Action
    Rapid onset anticoagulant that enhances effects of anti-thrombin III. Blocks conversion of Prothrombin to Thrombin & Fibrinogen to Fibrin
  4. Onset of Action
    • Onset: Immediate
    • Peak: 2-3 min
    • Duration: 2-6 hrs
    • Half-life: 90 min
  5. Indications
    • Unstable angina
    • Non Q wave MI
    • Used to prevent PE and DVT's
  6. Contraindications
    • Known hypersensitivity
    • Allergy to Beef or Pork
  7. Precautions
    • Don't use on pts with active major bleeding
    • Thrombocytopenia
    • Caution with chronic alcoholism
    • 3rd trimester pregnancy

    • Chest pain
    • Confusion
    • Dizziness
    • Edema
    • Rash
