  1. in 1918 the American giovernment decided to make a law to ban the sale and drinking of alcohol in the USA . This was called :

    because of pressure from religiuos groups such as the Women's Christian Temperance union and the Anti saloon league , who campaigned for many years for the government to ban alcohol in the USA . They were mainly country people who resented drunkness that they saw in the cities
