  1. What are micro-organisms?
    These are tiny living things that can only be seen using a microscope
  2. List three types of micro-organisms
    Bacteria

    Fungi

    Viruses
  3. List a benefit of bacteria
    It makes cheese and yoghurt

    It makes antibiotics and drugs
  4. List a harmful effect of bacteria
    It makes milk turn sour

    It can cause sore throats
  5. Why are antibiotics important?
    They are chemicals that kill bacteria
  6. List two ways fungi can get their food
    Feeding on living things

    Feeding on the remains of dead plants and animals
  7. List a benefit of fungi
    They can be eaten eg. mushrooms

    They can be used to make beer, wine and bread
  8. List a harmful effect of fungi
    It causes ringworm and athlete's foot

    It causes plant diseases eg. potato blight
  9. State the illnesses caused by viruses
    Common cold

    Chicken pox

    Flu

    Measles

    Mumps
  10. Give a benefit of vaccination on small babies
    Protects against infection
  11. Give a risk of vaccination on small babies
    Mild symptoms of the disease can occur - fever and rash
