Oxytocin Dosage
3-10 units IM following delivery of the placenta; 10-20 U in 1,000 mL of D5W or NS IV infusion titrated to the severity of the bleeding.

Mannitol Dosage
1.5-2.0 g/kg slow IV infusion

Propanolol Dosage
1-3 mg slow IV (over 2-5minutes), not to exceed 1mg/min. May repeat dose in 2minutes to total dose of 0.1 mg/kg.

Thiamin Dosage
50-100 mg IV or IM

TPA (Alteplase) Dosage
15 mg IV, then 0.75 mg/kg (up to 50mg) over 30minutes, then 0.5 mg/kg (up to 35mg) over 60minutes.

4mg IV

Mannitol MOA
Decreases cellular edema, increases urinary output.

Causes uterine contractions, slows postpartum vaginal bleeding, causes lactation.

Blocks stimulation of beta1 and beta2 adrenergic receptor sites.

Allows normal breakdown of glucose.

Converts plasminogen to plasmin.

Serotonin receptor antagonist.

Ondansetron Indications
Nausea/Vomiting.

TPA Indications
AMI, acute ischemis stroke.

Thiamin Indications
Coma of unknown origin, alcoholism, delirium tremens.

Mannitol Indications
Acute cerebral edema, blood transfusion reactions.

Propanolol Indications
HTN, angina, arrhythmias, pheochromocytoma.

Postpartum vaginal bleeding.

Oxytocin Contraindications
Any condition other than postpartum vaginal bleeding.

Uncompensated CHF, pulmonary edema, cardiogenic shock, bradycardia, heart blocks.

Pulmonary edema, dehydration, hypersensitivity.

Hypersensitivity.

TPA Contraindications
S/S of bleeding, stoke within last 6months, recent intracranial/spinal surgery or trauma, uncontrolled HTN.

Hypersensitivity.

Diarrhea, HA, fever, constipation.

TPA Side Effects
Allergic reaction, phlebitis, bleeding, reperfusion, arrhythmias.

Thiamin Side Effects
Angioedema, paresthesias, rash, anaphylaxis with rapid IVP.

Mannitol Side Effects
Transient volume expansion, confusion, CHF, headache, pulmonary edema, tachycardia.

Propanolol Side Effects
Fatigue, weakness, bronchospasm, bradycardia, CHF, pulmonary edema, hypotension, hypo/hyperglycemia.

Oxytocin Side Effects
Anaphylaxis, cardiac arrhythmias, H2O intoxication.
