- Bilaterally flex the neck
- bilaterally assist to elevate the ribcage during inhalation

top of manubrium
origin of clavicular head

medial 1/3 of the clavicle
insertion
- mastoid process of temporal bone and
- lateral portion of superior nuchal like of occiput
