Autotrophs
Self feeders, produce own food from CO2 and other materials
Heterotrophs
unable to make own food, they live on other organisms (consumers)
Two stages of Photosynthesis....
Light Reactions
: the photo part
Calvin cycle
: the synthesis part
Photophosphorylation
process to add a phosphate group to ADP
Stroma
where the calvin cycle occurs
Where does Photosynthesis take place?
Chloroplasts
Photosystem 2
P 680 it functions first,
Photosystem 1
P700 it functions second
Rubisco
the most abundant protein in chloroplasts(and on earth)....it catalyzes the first step of Calvin cycle
1. Carbon Fixation
first step...takes co2 and attaches it to a five carbon sugar (RuBP)...then splits into two molecules
2. Reduction
second step. a bunch of reduction takes place. The 3-phosphoglycerate changes to other things....G3P in the end.
3 Regeneration of CO2 accepter (RuBP)
third step....the 5 leftover G3P's are rearragned into 3 molecules of RuBP
