Circle
set of coplainer points equidistant from a given point
center
the given point
radius
a segment starting at the center and ending on the circle
Rule-
all radii in a circle are equal or congruent
chord
a segment starting and ending on the circle at different points
diameter
a chord that contains or goes through the center
secant
a coplainer line that contains a chord
Tangent
a coplainer line that intersects a cicle at only one point
Point of Tangency
the point where the tangent and the circle meet
Congruent Circles
two or more circles that have congruent or equal radii
Concentric circles
two or more coplainer circles with the same center
sphere
the set of points equidistant from a given point (3-D)
Common Tangent
a coplainer line that is tangent to two coplainer circles
Internal Common Tangent
a common tangent the intersects the segment joining the two centers
External Common Tangent
a common tangent that does not intersect the segment joining the two centers
Tangent circles
two coplainier circles that intersect at only one point
internally tangent circles
two coplainier circles that are tangent with one inside the other
externally tangent circles
two coplainier tangent circles that are not inside of each other
arc
a set of points that are part of a circle starting and ending at different points
minor arc
an arc that is less than half the circle (two letters)
major arc
an arc that is more than half the circle (three letters)
Semi-Circle
an arc that is equal to one half the circle (three letters if possiable)
Arc addition postulate
if two arcs have a common end point only then the measure of the first arc plus the measure of the second arc equal the measure of the new arc form
congruent arcs
two arcs on the same circle (or congrunet circles) that have the same or equal measures
midpoint of an arc
the point on an arc that divides the arc into two equal or congruent parts
Inscribed polygon
a polygon drawn inside a circle with all vertics on the circle
Circumscribed circle
a circle drwn around a polygon touching all vertices
Inscribed circle
a circle drawn inside a polygon touching all sides
Circumscribed polygon
a polygon drawn around a circle with all sides touching the circle
