  1. Cheyne--‐Stokes respiration
    Irregular breathing pattern ofaseries of shallow breaths that increase in depth and rate, followed by breaths that decrease in depth and rate.
  2. Dyspnea
    Difficulty in breathing.
  3. Eupnea
    Normal breathing
  4. Hemothorax
    Blood in the pleural cavity.
  5. Hypercapnia
    Excess carbon dioxide in the blood.
  6. Hyperventilation
    Prolonged, rapid, and deep breathing
  7. Hypoxemia
    Deficiency in the oxygenation of the blood.
  8. Hypoxia
    Diminished availability of oxygen in the tissues.
  9. Lobar pneumonia
    Pneumonia that affects an entire lobe of a lung.
  10. Pleurisy
    Inflammation of the pleural membranes.
  11. Pneumothorax
    Entrance of air into the space between the pleural membranes, followed by the collapse of the lung.
  12. Rhinitis
    Inflammation of the nasal cavity lining.
  13. Sinusitis
    Inflammation of the sinus cavity lining.
  14. Tachypnea
    Rapid, shallow breathing
  15. Tracheotomy
    Incision in the trachea for exploration or the removal of a foreign object.
