  2. Anagen
    Growth phase - new hair is produced New cells are manufactured in the hair follicle. Hari cells are produced than any other normal cell int eh human body. Average is 1/2 inch per month.
  3. Does the rate of growth vary on different parts of the body - sex and Age
    YES for all. Hair grows faster on different parts of the body. Women grow hair faster than men and hair grows rapidly between ages 15 and 30.

  5. How long does the average hair growth stage last?
    3-5 years, but some cases it can last as long as 10 years. That's why some can grow hair to the floor while others only to their shoulders.
  6. Catogen
    Brief phase between growing and resting. Only 1% of scalp hair is in the catagen phase at any one time. Lasts 1-2 weeks.
  7. Telogen
    Resting Phase. Final phase and lasts until the fully grown hair falls our or is pushed out. Lasts 3-6 months.
  8. Average growth Cycle
    Repeats itself 4-5 years.
  9. Hair Patterns
    • Hair Stream = flowing in the same direction or opposite creating a natural part.
    • Whorl = Hair forms a natural circlular pattern- usually the crown area
    • Cowlick = Tuft of hair that stands staight up- usually in the front of the hairline
