  5. aminoglycosides
    may cause ototoxicity (hearing loss)
  6. sulfonamide
    • synthetic that resembles PABA (bacterial enzyme)
    • increase fluids; crystals form in the kidney
    • potentiates warfarin and antidiabetics
    • interferes with digoxin and phenytoin
  7. AIDS
    • viral load: copies per microliter
    • cd4 cell count: reduction = AIDS progression
    • HIV drugs issued in a cocktail to prevetnt drug resistance
