    Inflammation of the appendix
  2. Cholecystitis
    Inflammation of the gall bladder

    Acute abdominal pain

    A surgical opening through which faecal matter drains or to allow deompression of the intestines

    A metabolic disorder in which insufficient insulin is produced by the pancreas

    Inflammation of the gastro-intestinal area
  8. Haematuria
    Blood in the urine
  9. Haematemesis
    Vomiting blood

    Inflammation of the liver

    The protrusion of part of an organ through an opening
  12. Hyperglycaemia
    High blood sugar level >10mmol/L
  13. Hypoglycaemia
    Low blood sugar level <4mmol/L

    A yellow discolouration of the skin usually due to liver dysfunction
  16. Ketoacidosis
    Elevated number of ketones which may rise due to diabetes or persistent vomiting

    Blood and faeces discharged from the bowel
  18. Nausea
    Feeling the need to vomit
  19. Pacreatitis
    Inflammation of the pancreas
  20. Peritonitis
    Inflammation of the membrane lining the abdominal cavity (peritoneum)
  21. Dialysis
    A procedure where waste products are removed from the kidneys
  22. Renal
    Relating to the kidneys
