- pts requiring reconditioning, those to tend to develop orthostatic hypotension (ex. prolonged bed rest)
- pts requiring security while developing tolerance to an upright position
- severely involved pts that are assuming an initial upright position (quads, paraplegics, MT)
- pts requiring heel cord stretching
What are contraindications for the tilt table?
- NWB status on bilateral LEs
- DVT of LEs

- loss of consciousness
- excessive increase in pulse
- excessive decrease in BP
- facial pallor
- excessive perspiration
- complaints of nausea, dizziness, or sensory changes in LEs

What is autonomic hyperreflexia?

condition seen in pts with injury to upper spinal cord. massive sympathetic discharge of stimuli from ANS. may be triggered by full bladder or colon or other problems
What are symptoms of autonomic hyperreflexia?
- sudden hypertension
- bradycardia
- seating
- severe headache
- goosebumps (piloerection)
