Moist air moves over colder ground and water to create advection fog

Advection is the transfer of a property of the atmosphere such as heat, cold or humidity by the horizontal movement of an air mass

Moist stable air is cooled adiabatically as it moves up a slopes terrain creating fog

When gas expands under adiabatical conditions its pressure and temperature both decrease without gain or loss of heat.

The adiabatic cooling of air as it rises in the atmosphere is the main cause of cloud formation.

Warm rain falls through cool air, evaporation from preciptation saturates the cool air and forms fog.

Same as radiation fog except cold temperatures are involved.
