What does an Echo measure?
- Cardiac out put

- -detecting clots, tumors, or masses.

- -a TEE does require and informed consent and is an invasive procedure.
What is the role of the nurse following a cardiac cath?
- -assess for bleeding
- -apply pressure to the site, the dressing will be in the groin area
- -encourage the pt to drink as soon as they are able, to flush out the dye
- -PRESSURE for a minimum of 15 minutes if pt is on an anticoagulant
What should the patient expect following a cardiac cath and why is it done in the first place?
- it is done to assess patency of the coronary arteries, and if done with contrast it is called an angiogram
- the patient should expect to take plavix for at least a year
- Plavix is motoroil for the arteries
What is the med of choice to give a pt in V-Tach Rhythm ?

Lidacane or amioderone
What is the drugs may be used as a cardioversion ?

Antiarrhythmic Drugs--- example.....amiodarone, diltiazem, verapamil and metoprolol
When is a cardioversion done?

it is synchornized with the hearbeat and done on the R wave if the pt is in A-fib
What should the P-R intraval be?

0.1-0.20... if it is 0.40 it is prolonged and is a type 1 heart block
Lead 2 ?

is easier to recognize but you need the other leads to view other views of the heart.
What does the ST segment tell you ?
- if elevated it is ischemia
- if decreased it is indicitive of an infarction or damage
