  1. KATA TE HAZUSHI ICHI
Single Hand Escape / Outside Grip.

    Attack:Uke grasps Tori's R-hand with his L-hand.

    • Technique:Rotate attacked hand, palm down. In accord with the same-side foot, move foot and hand on horizontal axis to point
    • along the same line as the attacker's hand.
    • (other aspect:rotate the attacked wrist/arm/hand so that the hand moves against the weakest part of the attacker's grip. Move so that Tori's and
    • Uke's elbows meet, or, so that the hips align.) Step away from Uke's range of attack. Assume defensive posture.
  2. KATATE HAZUSHI NI
Second Single Hand Escape / Inside Grip.

    Attack:Uke grasps Tori's R-hand with his R-hand.

Technique:Rotate attacked hand, palm-up. Escaping through the weakest part of Uke's grip, rotate elbow of attacked arm along the outside of Uke's arm, elbow to elbow. KIAI! Step away from Uke's range of attack. Resume a defensive posture.
  3. RYOTE HAZUSHI
Escape from both hands being held/attacked.

Attack:Uke grasps both of Tori's hands from the outside/top, in a "thumb up" grip.

Technique: Tori off-balances Uke, slightly, by bringing his (Tori's) elbows past his one-point and then allows Uke to attempt to recover his balance. As Uke pulls back, Tori "rides" the motion into Uke and drives his hip into Uke's "space." Tori clasps his hands together and pushes his elbows into Uke's elbows. KIAI! Resume a defensive posture.
  4. MOROTE HAZUSHI
Escape from multiple hands holding one.

Attack:Uke grasps Tori's R-hand with both of his hands.

Technique: Tori attacks Uke's face with a L-hand heel-palm strike and KIAI. Tori then grasps his R-fist w/ his Left hand, enter's Uke's space with his R-hip and presses his R-elbow into and through Uke's elbows/mid-section up toward Uke's chin. KIAI! Resume a defensive posture.
  5. MOMIJI HAZUSHI
Escape from a front choke on the neck. "Blushing Red Maple Tree"

Attack: Uke grasps the front of Tori's throat, choking him.

Technique: Tori places the palm of his L-hand hand against the back of his R-hand, palms facing Tori. He raises his arms above his head, bringing his shoulders up to his ears, causing Uke's hands to come off Tori's neck. Tori then brings the palms of his hands down on Uke's elbows/forearms, knocking them away. KIAI! Resume a defensive posture.
  6. RYOERI HAZUSHI
    • Escape from a double-lapel hold.
    • Attack: Uke grasps both of Tori's lapels (thumb-up).

Technique: Tori places the back of his R-hand against the inside of Uke's L-wrist, "opens the door" to the right (to weaken Uke's grip), hooks his hands together, then "opens the door" to the left. As Tori pivots, he rotates his arms until there is in a straight line between his R-elbow and both of Uke's elbows. Tori strikes down through Uke's elbows with his R-elbow (KIAI!). Take a defensive posture.
  7. YUBI TORI HAZUSHI
Escape from a hold on the fingers.

Attack: Uke grasps the fingers on Tori's hand, palm down.

Technique: Tori drops the heel of his attacked hand, sharply, then raises the hand, wrist-first, prying his fingers (almost) free. Tori then executes a heel-palm strike at Uke. Take a defensive posture.
  8. YUBI TORI
A hold taken on one finger.

Attack: Uke reaches to grab Tori's obi.

Technique:Tori catches Uke's hand between his first two fingers, then folds Uke's finger, so that the finger-tip is pressed tightly against the base of the finger. Apply pressure against the finger-tip, pulling it away from the hand, to apply the lock. (KIAI!) Push the hand away to release. Take a defensive posture.
  9. MORO YUBI TORI
A hold taken on multiple fingers.

Attack: None required, but it can be taken from a reach.

Technique:Tori grasps the back of the fingers of Uke's hand, with the same side hand. Project the fingers out/up ("Shoot the Moon") and maintain the projection/pressure as Tori brings the tips of the fingers back to Uke's hip (same side). Tori secures Uke's elbow with his opposite hand. Lead Uke, for a few steps, to demonstrate control. Release by pushing Uke's shoulder/body away. Take a defensive posture.
  10. KATATE TORI
A hold taken on one hand.

Attack: Uke reaches for Tori's obi with his R-hand.

    • Technique:Tori "opens the door" to the right and grasps Uke's hand with his L-hand, (Little finger leads the grasp) and places his thumb in the back of Uke's hand. Tori closes the door and opens it to the left, as he rotates Uke's hand to the left. (KIAI!)
    • Release by pushing Uke's hand away. Take a defensive posture.
