  2. Albuterol description
    A synthetic sympathomimetic that causes bronchodilation w less cardiac effect than epinephrine and reduces mucus secretion, pulmonary capillary leaking, and edema in the lungs during allergic reactions.

    Bronchospasm, asthma, COPD, bronchial asthma, emphysema, reversible bronchospasm associated w chronic bronchitis

    Hypersensitivity, symptomatic tachycardia

    BP, pulse, ECG should b monitored, use caution in pts w known heart disease, elderly pts, lung sounds should b auscultated before & after administration

    Other sympathomimetics, beta blockers may blunt the pharmacological effects of Albuterol
