    Elevated levels indicate ACUTE MI

    4-8 hrs after MI; Peak 20 hrs--Remain elevated 72 hrs

    • 38-190 men
    • 10-150 women
  2. Lactate Dehydrogenase: LD
    Appear primarily in the HEART and RED BOOD CELLS

    Look for the FLIP!

    rise 8-12 hrs after MI, peak 24-48 hrs, normal 10-14 days

    IF LD1 EXCEED LD2 = ACUTE MI

    Normal: 35-378
  3. Homocysteine
    Amino Acid

    High levels IRRITATE BLOOD VESSELS==ATHEROSCLEROSIS

    also INCREASES LDL, INCREASES CLOTTING

    Normal: <=13
  4. C-Reactive Protein
    CRP produced by LIVER

    High CRP=INFLAMMATION

    other tests needed to find location
  5. Troponin I
    Troponin T
    Protein found in SKELETAL/CARDIAC MUSCLE

    Normals: <0.4

    Stay elevated for prolonged time, DETECT MI FROM SEVERAL DAYS EARLIER
