    - Pain

    • Adverse Effects:
    • - Hallucinations
    • - Nausea
    • - Constipation
    • - Dizziness
    • - Itching sensation

    Overdose: severe respiratory depression or cardiac arrest

    **TREATMENT OF OVERDOSE: naloxene
  2. Fentanyl (Sublimaze)
    - Pain

    - Combined with droperidol (inapsine) produces a state known as neuroleptanalgesia

    - Conscious, insensitive to pain, and unconnected with your surroundings

    • Adverse Effects:
    • - Nausea
    • - GI disturbances
    • - Marked CNS depression
  3. Midazolam (Versed)
    • - Benzodiazepine
    • - Sedation

    - Rapid onset 15 to 30 minutes

    • Adverse Effects:
    • - Dizziness
    • - Decreased alertness
    • - Diminished concentration
    • - Cardiovascular collapse
    • - Laryngeospasm
  4. Lorazepam (Ativan)
    • - Benzodiazepine
    • - Sedation

    • Adverse Effects:
    • - Drowsiness & Sedation = MOST COMMON
    • - Amnesia
    • - Weakness
    • - Disorientation
    • - BP changes
    • - N/V

    *TREATMENT OF OVERDOSE: Flumazemil adm to reverse CNS depression
  5. Propofol (Diprivan)
    • - Barbituate
    • - Sedation

    • Adverse Effects:
    • - Dizziness
    • - Confusion
    • - Unsteadiness
    • - Circulatory or Respiratory depression with apnea
    • - Laryngeospasm
    • - Anaphylaxis
