  1. Food Chain
    A series of events in which one organism eats another and obtains energy. It shows movement or energy through an ecosystem.
  2. Food Web
    Made up of many interconnected food chains in an ecosystem.
  3. What is an energy pyramid?
    An Energy Pyramid shows the Amount of energy that moves from one feeding level to another in a food web.
  4. Where is most energy avalable?
    Most energy is avalable at the producer level.
  5. As the energy pyramid rises, what decreases?
    The amount of energy.
  6. Why are there so few organisms at the highest level in a food pyramid?
    Because since so much energy is lost at each level, the anount of energy in the producer level limits the number of consumers an ecosystem can support.
  7. How much energy is lost at each stage and why?
    90% of energy is lost at each stage because it is used for the organism's life process or is lost as heat to the environment. The other 10% of energy is transferred to the next level.
  8. What kind of poisonous materials have been released into the environment?
    Mercury, Lead, Arsenic, Cadmium.
  9. Where do some of the poisons accumulate once consumed?
    They mostly accumulate inside certain tissues, especially fat.
  10. What is Biological Magnification?
    It is when toxins that are harmful become more concentrated as they move up a food chain.
  11. What is severely affected by these toxins?
    The Top-Level carnivores and omnivores.
  12. True or False:
    Cooking the organism would get rid of the toxins inside it's body.
