Be self controlled and alert for your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour.

Since we're surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us. Let us fix our eyes on Christ, the author and perfecter of our faith who for the joy set before him endured death on the cross and scorned its shame. Consider him so you will not grow weary and lose heart.

Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope you have

Do not let any unwholesome talk come out of your moth, but only what is helpful for building up others according to their needs that it may benefit those who listen

Finally brothers, whatever is good, whatever is noble, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable, if anything is excellent or praiseworthy think about such things

Never be lacking in zeal but keep your spiritual fervor while serving the Lord

If you love those who love you, what reward will you get? Are not even the tax collectors doing that? Be perfect therfore as the your heavenly Father is perfect.

We demolish all arguments and pretensions that set themselves up against the knowledge of God and take captive every thought making it obedient to Christ

I will refresh the weary and satisfy the faint

If anyone considers herself religious yet cannot keep a tight rein on her tongue she deceives herself and her religion is worthless

In the same way, the Lord has commanded that those who preach the gospel should receive their living from the gospel

No temptation has seized you except that which is common to man and God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can stand up under it

If there is poor among you in the land God has given you, do not be hard-hearted or tight fisted. Rather be open-handed and freely lend him whatever he needs

Do not forget to entertain strangers for by doing so some have entertained angels without knowing it

Above all else, guard your heart for everything else flows from it

In the same way, the Spirit helps us in our weakness. We don't know what we ought to pray for but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groans that words cannot express

Get rid of all bitterness, anger, rage, brawling and slander along with every form of malice. Be kind and compassionate to one another forgiving just as Christ forgave you.

Be joyful always, pray continually and give thanks in all situations for this is God's will for you in Christ

My grace is sufficient for you for my power is made perfect in weakness. Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weakness so that Christ's power may rest in me.

Be very careful then how you live not as unwise but as wise making the most of every opportunity because the days are evil. Therefore, do not be foolish, but understand what the Lord's will is.

Anxiety in a man's heart weighs it down, but a good word makes it glad

May the God of hope fill you withall joy and peace as you trust in him so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit

Be careful that the exercise of your freedom doesn't become a stumbling block to the weak. For if anyone with a weak conscience sees you with this knowledge eating in an idol's temple, won't he be emboldened to also eat? So this weaker brother, for whom Christ also died, is destroyed by your knowledge. When you sin against your brother and wound his weak conscience, you sin against Christ. So if what I eat causes my brother to fall, I will never eat meat again so that I don't make him fall

Carry each other's burdens for in this way you fulfill the law of Christ

Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart as though working for the Lord and not for men

Do not take revenge my friends, but leave room for God's wrath for it is written, "It is mine to avenge, I will repay," says the Lord.

If I were trying to please men, I would not be a servant of Christ

Consider it pure joy my brothers, whenever you face trials of many kinds because you know the testing of your faith develops perseverance. Perseverance must finish it's work so that you may be mature and complete not lacking in anything. If any of you lacks wisdom, she should ask God who gives generously ot all without finding fault and it will be given to her

Do nothing out of selfish ambitions and vain conceit but in humility consider others better than yourself

Be still and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations and exalted in all the earth

Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not rude, proud, self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices in the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes and always perseveres. Love never fails.

Everyone should be quick to listen, slow to speak and slow to become angry

Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction and faithful in prayer

In this world, you will have trouble, but take heart for I have overcome the world

Therefore, I urge you brothers, in view of God's mercy to offer your bodies as living sacrifices holy and pleasing to God - this is your spiritual act of worship. Do not conform any longer to the patterns of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you can test and approve His will - his good, perfect and pleasing will

In your anger, do not sin. Do not let the sun go down on your anger and do not give the devil a foothold.

But encourage one another daily as long as it is called today so that you will not be hardened by sin's deceit

Do everything without complaining or arguing so that you may be blameless and pure children of God without fault in a crooked and depraved generation in which you shine like stars in the universe

God guides the humble and teaches them his ways

If at all possible, as far as it depends on you, be at peace with everyone

Pride only breeds quarrels but wisdom is found in those who take advice

The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge but fools despise wisdom and discipline

Whoever loves money never has money enough; whoever loves wealth is never satisfied with his income. This too is meaningless.

For the love of money is the root of all kinds of evil. Some people eager for money have wandered from the faith piercing themselves with all kinds of grief.

But the Lord said to Samuel, "Do not consider his height or appearance for I have rejected him. The Lord does not look at the things men look at. Man looks at outward appearances but the Lord looks at the heart."

Submit yourselves, then, to God. Resist the devil and he will flee from you.
