    Protect people from discriminatory treatment by gov't or individuals
  2. 14th Amendment
    States can't deny people equal protection under the law

    • Prohibits discrimination based on disabilities
  22. Affirmative action
    Gives special attention to the treatment of previously disadvantaged groups
  23. Regents of the University of California v. Bakke
    1978 universities can't admit less qualified individuals based only on race
  24. Adarand Constructors v. Pena
    1995 federal programs classifying people by race should be assumed unconstitutional
