  1. regular cash dividend
    cash payments made directly to stockholders, usually each quarter
  2. extra cash dividend
    indication that the extre amount may not be repeated in the future
  3. special cash dividend
    similar to extra dividend, but definitely wont be repeated
  4. liquidating dividend
    some or all of the business has been sold
  5. Ex-dividend date
    • -occurs 2 business days before date of record
    • -if you buy stock or after this date you will not recieve the dividend
    • -STOCK PRICE GENERALLY DROPS BY THE AMOUNT OF THE DIVIDEND
