    • -Anterograde Amnestic
    • -Skeletal muscle relaxant
    • -Induces sleep
  3. Indications
    • -Status epilepticus
    • -To induce sedation prior to painful procedures
  4. Contraindications
    • -Hypersensitivity
    • -Acute narrow-angle glaucoma
    • -Coma
    • -Shock
    • -Acute alcohol intoxication
  5. Precautions
    • -COPD/CHF
    • -Renal failure
  6. Side Effects
    • -N/V
    • -Blurred vision
    • -Retrograde amnesia
    • -Excessive amnesia
    • -Apnea
    • -Hypotension
    • -PVCs
  7. Interactions
    • -Other CNS depressants (causes prolonged respiratory depression)
    • -Alcohol
    • -Cimetidine (increases plama levels of versed)
  8. Dosage
    ADULT

    1- 2.5 mg slow IVP or IM q 5 mins until seizure stopped

    PEDI

    .1 mg/kg max 6 mg may repeat in 5 minutes
  9. Pharmacokinetics
    • Onset=3-5 mins IV
    • Duration= less than 2 hours IV
    • Half Life= 4 hours
