    • Use: Sleeplessness
    • Comments: Ok in elderly
  3. lorazepam - Ativan
    • Class: Benzodiazepine
    • Use: Sedative
    • Comments: watch VS, esp RR and O2 sat
  4. diazepam - Valium
    • Class: Benzodiazepine
    • Use: Sedative, Anticonvulsant
    • Comments: For status epilepticus avoid in elderly
  5. phenytoin - Dilantin
    • Class: Hydantion
    • Use: Anticonvulsant
    • Comments: Gingival hyperplasia
  6. levodopa - L-Dopa
    • Class: Antiparkinsonian
    • Use: Parkinson's (First line drug)
    • Comments: Less effective over time watch orthostatic hypotension
  7. amantidine - Symmetrel
    • Class: Antiparkinsonian, Antiviral
    • Use: Parkinson's, Influenza A
    • Comments: may decrease BP, Cause drowsiness
  8. chlordiazepoxide - Librium
    • Class: Benzodiazepine
    • Use: For DT's
  9. amitriptyline - Elavil
    • Class: Tricyclic
    • Use: Depression
    • Comments: Do not use in elderly, cardiac problems with overdose
  10. fluoxetine - Prozac
    • Class: SSRI
    • Use: Depression
  11. thioridazine - Mellaril
    • Class: Antipsychotic
    • Use: Psychosis
    • Comments: watch for tardive dyskinesia
  12. Lithium
    • Class: Psychiatric
    • Use: Bipolar
  13. promethazine - Phenergan
    ondansetron - Zofran
    hydroxyzine - Vistaril
    • Class: Antiemetic
    • Use: N/V
    • Comments: Watch for sedation, decrease in BP and RR
    • Potentiate effects of narcotics
