Aortic Arch Basic Pattern
Six pairs of aortic arches connect paired dorsal aortae to ventral aorta
Fish Aortic arches
Interrupted by capillary beds of gills
Aortic Arch pattern in C
hondricthyes and Teleostes
First pair is lost
Remaining 5 pairs are interruped by cap beds
Afferent and efferent branchials for on either side of cap beds from original aortic arches
Arteries off efferent aortic arches:
Hypobranchials
External carotids are cranial extensions of Ventral aortae
Aortic Arch patternn in
Amphibians and Reptiles
Loss of 1, 2 and 5 Pairs
Loss of Capilliary beds
(cause no Gills)
Arch Pair VI
(6)-forms pulmonary arteries (cause they have lungs now)
Ductus Arteriosus connectes 6th arch to dorsal aorta.
Arch pair IV
(4)-forms systemic arches
Arch pair III
(3)-associated with carotid system
Ductus caroticus= remain of dorsal aortae between 3rd and 4th arch
Aortic Arch patters in
Mammals
:
Similar to Birds
Left 4th aortic arch is retained as systemic arch (=arotic arch)
Right 4th aortic arch is mostly lost
Birds- Right is kept, Left is mostly lost
Patent (open) Ductus venosus is retained by fetus!
BASIC VENOUS IN
PRIMITAVIE VERTEBRATES
AND
EMBRYOS
OF HIGHER VERTEBRATES
Paired Symmetrical veins
Hepatic Portal System
Renal Portal System
PAIRED SYMMETRICAL VEINS in primiative vertebrates and embryos
JVAP
Jugulars
Vitelline Veins
Anterior Cardinals
Posterior Cardinals
HEPATIC PORTAL SYSTEM in primiative vertebrates and embryos
Right viteline=hepatic portal vein
Proximal vitelline viens=hepatic veins
Definition of portal
: A system of veins that carries blood TOWARDS the heart but ends of a capillary bed in an organ other than the heart
RENAL PORTAL SYSTEM in the venous systen in primitive vertebrate and embryos
Not in Mammals
Proximal ends of posterior cardinals degenerate
Distal end is posterior cardinals carry blood to Kidneys= renal portal vein
