Secret Kingdom

  1. Matthew 5:3 Spiritual Beggars
Blessed are the poor in spirit for theirs is the kingdom of heaven. Beggarly, spiritual beggars - who are needy. Ex. Pharisee & Pulican Luke 18: 13 - 14
  2. Matthew 5:4 Intecessors
Blessed are they that mourn for they shall be comforted. Penitent repentance means afterthough or reconsideration sorry for sins Psalm 51:17. If you want the comfort of God surrounding you, you must mourn for your sins. And the Lord went beyond that, He wants us to mourn for the sins of people around us. We are to cry out for the lost. Ex Lot - Sodom & Gomorrah; Psalm 6 King David's repentance of his affair
  3. Matthew 5:5 A mater of control
Blessed are the meek for they shall inherit the earth. Meek means humility, gentle not dull, not docile. It calls for a total yielding of the reins of life from self to God. We serve God. Happy is the man who is under control - of God and of himself
  4. Matthew 5:6 Hunger and Fullness
Blessed are they which do hunger and thirst after righteousness for they shall be filled. To be righteous is to be Godlike. Setting our life's course in pursuit of Him, we must yearn for this nature. We must live it out
  5. Matthew 5:7 The flow of mercy
Blessed are the merciful, for they shall obtain mercy. Mercy-compassion, tenderness/kindsness and beneficence. Flows from greater to lesser: God is merciful to man: a wealthy man is merciful to a poorer man. We begin to think towards man as God thinks toward us
  6. Matthew 5:8 Ultimate Happiness
Blessed are the pure in heart: for they shall see God. Clean, untainted, gold that is without alloy. Blessed are those that have clean hearts, single and undivided, whose devotion is without mixture. Heart, the center of our being, the core of spirituality and deepest motivations; we cannot serve two masters
  7. Matthew 5:9 Children of the King
Blessed are the peacemakers: for they shall be called the children of God. A child of God is an heir of God, the recipient of authority, possession, wealth and even the kingdom itself. He is the inheritor of everything that exists. Jesus brought peace between man and God 2 Corin 5:18-20
  8. Matthew 5:10 -13 Persecution Will Come
Blessed are they which are persecuted for righteousness sake: for their's is the kingdom of heaven. Blessed are ye, when men shall revile you, and persecute you, and say all manner of evil against you falsely for my sake. As people practice living it now-bringing every thought captive and exercising the authority of the kingdom-they will become visible for who they are and opposition will mount.Abuse will come. It came to Jesus. 2 Corin 2:15-16
