- Incubation period: 16-18 days
- Sx: Parotitis, Fever
- Duration: 7-10 days
- complications: Orchitis, oorphitis, meningitis, encephalitis
- Dx: Clinical picture, isolate virus
- Prevention: MMR vaccine - live attenuated
- Tx: supportive

Measles
- Paramyxovirus - 5-day measles, hard measles
- Lacks N
- Spread by inhalation
- Suppresses IL-12 - decreases cell mediated response
- Aggressive replication, lots of inflammation
- Incubation: 9-11 days
- Koplike spots: appear a few days before rash
- Rash: head -> trunk -> extremities
- Severity: High fever, delirium, Photophobia, conjuctivitis
- Complications: Bacterial superinfection, encephalitis, death
- Dx: Clinical picture, vral isolation
- Tx: Supportive

Rubella
- Togavirus (+) RNA
- German measles, 3 day measles
- Subgenmoic RNA
- Spread by inhalation
- URT -> LN -> viremia
- Incubation: 16 days
- Sx: mild rash with fever
- persists 1-3 days
- Contagious 7 days before and after
- Congential Rubella: Cardiac/ocular defects, thrombocytopenia, failure to thrive, mental retardation
- Dx: Hemagglutination
- Prevention: MMR, not given to pregnant women
- Tx: supportive
