  1. autonomic
    part of peripheral nervous system that functions automatically; activates involuntary, smooth, cardiac muscles and glands serving vital systems and cannot be controlled voluntarily
  2. central
    division of nervous system that includes brain and spinal cord
  3. cerebrospinal system
    the central nervous system; includes the brain and spinal cord
  4. parasympathetic
    one of two divisions of autonomic system, arising from central nervous system by preganglionic neurons, with cell bodies located in brain r in second, third and fourth sacral segments of spinal cord (also called craniosacral system)
  5. peripheral
    division of nervous system that consists of nerves and ganglia peripheral to or outside the spinal cord and brain, including cranial and spinal nerves and autonomic nervous system
  6. sympathetic
    one of two divisions of autonomic system, arising from central nervous system by preganglionic neurons, with cell bodies located in thoracic and first three lumbar segments of spinal cord and with ganglia extending from base of skull to coccyx (also called thoracolumbar)
