  1. RBC morphology:Anisocytosis 
    = variation of cell size
  2. Poikilocytosis
    = variation of cell shape
  3. Target cell
    • = target-like cell
    • (chronic liver dx, thalassemia Hgb C)
  4. Macro-ovalocyte
    = large oval-shaped cell (megaloblastic anemia)
  5. Dacrocyte (tear drop cells)
    = single spicule with blunt end (thalassemia, Fe deficiency)
  6. Echinocyte (Burr cell)
    = short evenly-spaced spicules (kidney dx, heart dx, untx hypothyroidism)
  7. Acanothocyte (Spur cell)
    = irreg spaced spicules of varying length (vit E deficiency, splenectomy, hypothyroidism)
  8. Polychromasia
    = Grayish-blue color of cytoplasm in reticulocytes (ribosomes)(immature RBC)
