    contract negotiated on behalf of employees by a union representative
  7. Contributory negligence rule
    common law defense prohibiting an employee from recovering damages from an employer for an injury if the employee's negligence cause the injury

    common law defense prohibitng an employee from recovering damages from an employer for an injury that was caused by another employee

    federal agency that enforces federal health and safety laws

    the amount that an employer must withhold from an employee's pay for income tax purposes
  16. W-2 Form
    wage and tax statement; a report furnished by the employer for each employee indicating gross earnings and deductions for income and F.I.C.A. taxes
  17. W-4 Form
    employee's withholding allowance certificate
  18. Employee
    the person hired to perform work and who is obligated both as to the work to be done and as to the manner in which it is to be performed

    one who is under the control and direction of an employer with regard to the performance of employment
  19. Union shop
    work setting in which all employees must be union members
  20. Collective bargaining
    process by which employer and union negotiate and agree on terms of employment
  21. Hot cargo agreement
    agreement between a union and an employer that the employer will not use nonunion materials
