What is a thyroid stimulating hormone (TSH)?
-Stimulates the thyroid gland to secrete thryoid hormones
What is adrenocorticotropic hormone (ACTH)?
-Stimulates the adrenal cortex to secrete corticosteroids
What is follicle stimulating hormone (FSH)?
-Stimulates secretion of estrogen and the development of ova in the female and sperm in the male

-From the thyroid, affects metabolic rate, carb and lipid metabolism, growth and development, and nervous system activity.
What is Calcitonin?
-Produced by C cells of the thyroid in response to high circulating calcium levels
What is parathroid hormone?
-Regulates the blood level of calcium
What is Cortisol?
-Regulates blood glucose concentration, inhibits inflammatory action, supports the stress response
What is Aldosterone?
-Maintains extracellular volume
What is insulin?
-Regulates the etabolism and storage of carbs, fats and proteins
What is glucagon?
-Increases blood glucose level by gluconeogenesis and ketogenesis
