    given every 14 days

    Black box: TB & fungal infections
  4. Etanercept

    • MOA: binds TNF-a

    1X/week

    • A/E: site reaction
    • hypersensitivity
    • infection
  5. Anakinra
    IL-1 antagonist

    1X/day

    A/E: Infections
  6. Penicillamine
    • A/E:
    • Blood dyscrasias
    • BM supression
  7. Hydroxychloroquine
    • MOA: dec T cell chemotaxis
    • trap free radicals

    S/E: irreversible retinal degeneration
  8. Sulfasalzine
    metabolized by bacteria to mesalmine

    slow acetylators --> dec excretion rate

    • A/E:
    • hypersensitivity
    • hematological effects
  9. Methotrexate
    Cytotoxic

    adjuvant w/ folate

    • A/E:
    • leukopenia
    • MTX lung
    • hepatoxicity
  10. Leflunomide
    Cytotoxic

    MOA: No denovo synthesis -> no T & B cell proliferation

    • A/E:
    • cytopenias
    • renal
    • teratogenic
  11. Probenacid
    Uricosuric

    • MOA:
    • dec reabsorption
    • inc excretion
    • BUT opposite effect on Penicillin
  12. Supfinpyrazone
    Uricosuric

    MOA: dec reabsorption
  13. Allopurinol
    Chronic treatment of uric acid overproduction

    MOA: utilize xanthine oxidase -> oxypurinol

    w/ theophylline -> inc [methyl xanthine]
  14. Colchicine
    Acute Gouty attack

    MOA: binds microtubular filaments -> no movement of WBC

    • A/E:
    • myopathy
    • agranulocytosis
    • aplastic anemia
    • alopecia
  15. Acute Gout drugs
    • NSAIDS:
    • ibuprofen
    • indomethacin
    • phenylbutazone

    Glucocorticoids: prednisone
  16. Acute gouty attack drugs
    • Colchicine

  17. Chronic Gout drugs
