Reproductive Histopathology

  1. Schiller-Duval bodies
    Look like a bull's eye -- yolk sac tumor
  2. hCG as tumor marker
    Choriocarcinoma - germ cell tumor in both males & females (can be in mother or fetus).
  3. Reinke crystals
    Found in 1/2 of Leydig cell carcinoma cases (benign tumor).
  4. Call-Exner bodies
    Ovarian granulosa cell tumor (the one that secretes estrogen). They look like glands, but they're not -- b/c the lumen is filled w/necrotic cells.
  5. Phyllodes tumor
    Breast cancer - women in their 50's. Large, bulky mass w/"leaf-like" projections; may become malignant.
