  1. hydroxizine (Vistaril) is used for
    Hydroxyzine is used to relieve the itching caused by allergies and to control the nausea and vomiting caused by various conditions, including motion sickness. It is also used for anxiety and to treat the symptoms of alcohol withdrawal.

    The two most common clinical indications for use of Vistaril are for symptomatic relief of anxiety and tension associated with psychoneurosis and as an adjunct in organic disease states in which anxiety is manifested; or as a sedative when used as premedication and following general anesthesia, typically given IM (intramuscular injection) or IV along with meperidine (Demerol)

    hydroxyzine is an antihistamine w/ anticholinergic effect

    What are side effects
    • -Sweat, saliva, urine may turn reddish brown occasionally.
    • - Causes drowsiness
  4. If you're allergic to sulfa drugs (sulfonamides) do not take BACTRIM!

    Diarrhea! Drink plenty of fluid

    DON'T GIVE IF ALLERGIC TO SULFA DRUGS
  8. indocin (Indomethacin) is an NSAID... what is it used for?
    • Arthritis (osteo, rheumatoid, gouty)
    • Bursitis
    • Tendonitis
  9. chlordiazepoxide (Librium) What is it used for?
    Tx of alcohol withdrawal. Do not take alcohol with this! Very bad n/v can occur
  10. lovastatin (Mecavor) ... if given qd, when should it be given?
