Joint Movement

  1. Flexion
    is a movement that decreases a joint angle, usual in the the sagittal plane
  2. Extension
    straightens a joint and returns body to zero position
  3. Hyperextension
    movement of joint beyond zero position
  4. Abduction
    movement away from the midline of the body
  5. Adduction
    in the frontal plane back towards midline of body
